Orange County Schools Build Civic Knowledge with Disney
If it wasnt a large enough benefit to develop up next door to the Magic Kingdom, Orange County kids are also being sought out by charitable organizations within their place. As part of Disneylands 50th anniversary celebrations, students from Orange County Schools have the opportunity to participate in community outreach projects with local non-profits.
Show Your Figure
The Show Your Character opposition encourages local nonprofits to create tasks that get high school students involved. From 2004 and continuing through 2006, Orange County nonprofits submit project proposals designed to help local teenagers surrender to their group. If chosen, the nonprofits are used with Orange County kids and provided the resources they had a need to complete a community service project in their communities.
Tasks for your competition should meet up with the California program requirements for Service Learning Projects. In this manner, students generate educational credit while learning valuable skills from charitable groups.
A Service Learning Project must meet four basic objectives (given by the Volunteer Center of Orange County, www.volunteercenter.org ):
Meet a Real Group Need
In alliance with your company, students must gain an awareness of the way the requirements of town you serve are identified. After developing a knowledge of the needs, students can actively participate in a service-learning project designed to effortlessly meet these needs.
Gain an Understanding of the Bond Between School and Community
Students should develop an understanding of the partnership between the community and the school and the value of school-community relationships. This will be obtained through direct relationships with your company, team and/or customers to produce and implement significant support activities that meet the needs of both the students and town you serve. Should people require to be taught further on website, there are many databases you could investigate.
Develop a Sense of Civic Duty
Students must be in a position to show an awareness of social responsibility through their participation in this service-learning activity.
